The Futility of Self-Denial in Local Politics and POLITICKING. It is true of the popular axiom that "all politics is local." It is not true that "all local politics is vindictive" In the pursuit of power, some individuals resort to self-denial, attempting to tarnish the legacies of others for political gain. This approach may yield short-term benefits but ultimately proves futile. In addition, that desperate bid for political ascendancy, some others also resort to self-denial, attempting to tarnish the legacy of Bldr Sesan Daini. This effort seems driven by the notion that "there is no art to find the mind's construction in the face," or "hiding under one finger,"    Bldr Sesan Daini ignoring the overwhelming evidence of his exemplary accomplishments. Simply put, "The silence of supposedly friends,  associates, once-upon-a-time-cheer leaders, speak volumes about the strength of any adversaries." In this case, "Silence is not Go...

Why the East only grows in the Markets

From the post of  on X   Pastor Okezie J. Atanni  Tosin Eniolorunda, the founder of Moniepoint, is a wealthy young man. He will be 40 this year and should be unarguably one of the richest, brightest young minds of my generation. According to unofficial estimates, his stake at Moniepoint is worth over $100 million. But he was not always this wealthy; running and founding Monie Point changed his life. Prior to 2017, before Moniepoint was founded, Tosin was just a tech entrepreneur who ran a software consulting company, and he was living at 1004 Estate in Lagos at that time. What Tosin’s consulting company does is simple: provide a software solution that Nigerian banks use for their day-to-day operations. But they were doing more than that. They also build bank apps. Sterling Bank and Unity Bank apps were built by Tosin and his team at Team Apt, the name of the software company. Until one day, Tosin got an email from Sterling Bank that the bank is pulling out and ...

Miracle on the Road:

Miracle on the Road: A Survivor’s Tale of Faith and Resilience By Hakeem Agbelesola It was a fateful evening around 8 p.m. when I boarded a commercial bus from Lafenwa in Abeokuta, Ogun State. My destination was Mushin, Lagos, but with no direct bus to Oshodi available, I settled for one heading to Iyana Ipaja. Unease gnawed at me from the start. Three times, I stepped off the bus back at Lafenwa, my instincts screaming that something was amiss. Yet, with no clear reason to abandon my journey, I reboarded, and the bus sped off once full. As we approached Sango, tragedy struck. The bus somersaulted violently, flipping multiple times. My right hand, dangling outside the window, bore the brunt of the chaos, battered and mangled with every roll. In that moment, the lyrics of the late Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister echoed in my mind: “When my house was burning, Satan said he would destroy it in God’s name, but the angel of death forgot to seek God’s permission.” Those words felt like a l...

CBEX Collapse: The Rise and Fall of Another Nigerian Ponzi Scheme – A Deep Dive By Adeboye  Prince Adetu for Igbenews Faces at CBECX office in Ikeja Lagos  The  Illusion of Easy Money Lagos, Nigeria – April 2025. The CBEX office in Ikeja, once buzzing with excited investors, now stands deserted. Broken chairs, scattered papers, and tearful faces tell the story of another Ponzi scheme collapse. Just weeks ago, friends, family, and colleagues swore by CBEX’s "guaranteed returns." Today, millions of naira—and dreams—are gone.   One victim, a middle-aged father who invested his life savings of ₦42 million ($89,000), stares blankly at the locked gates. "They promised me 100% profit in 35 days. I even borrowed money to invest," he whispers. Nearby, a woman collapses, wailing. She sold her car to join CBEX after seeing a friend’s "proof" of an $8,000 withdrawal. Now, like thousands of others, she’s left with nothing.   How CBEX Lured Nigerians CBEX launched i...

Jeremiah Kosesochi Nwoke Sees the wrath of Agẹmọ   Story submitted by Mrs Adeola Banjo For Igbe news Ijebu Ode, a historic town in Ogun State, Nigeria, known for its deep-rooted cultural heritage and reverence for the Agemo deity, was thrown into a frenzy when an unusual incident occurred at the Itoro roundabout. According to local accounts, a man allegedly attempted to steal a sacred Agemo statue, only to face what many believe was divine retribution. The man, reportedly found pinned to the ground by a fragment of the statue, was unable to move, while the rest of the statue lay uprooted from its base. An identity card found on him bore the name Jeremiah Kosesochi Nwoke. The Agemo deity holds immense significance in Ijebu culture, symbolizing unity and spiritual authority.
