As I, Adeboye Prince Adetu, celebrate the significant milestone of my 60th birthday on May 15, 2025, I am filled with profound gratitude—for the journey behind me, the lessons learned, the relationships nurtured, and the dreams that continue to fuel my spirit.

Born on May 15, 1965, at 32 Oyewole Street, Ilupeju, Lagos, and raised in the vibrant neighborhood of 32 Ayonuga Street, Fadeyi, my roots are deeply embedded in the culture, energy, and resilience of the people who shaped me. My educational journey took me from Agufoye in Simawa, through Makun in Sagamu, Wesley School Soyindo, Sagamu, Festac High School, Lagos Secondary Commercial Academy (now Ilupeju College), Ilupeju Secondary School, Government Technical College, Ajegunle, Ogun State, and finally to Yaba College of Technology—institutions that molded my identity and ignited my lifelong passion for creativity, innovation, and service.

Over the years, my career has blossomed into a colorful mosaic—an interwoven tapestry of artistry, engineering, publishing, and community leadership. I am a trained printer, sculptor, painter, graphic artist, and inventive engineer. My development of a foam and mattress heat stamp stands as a proud innovation in Nigeria’s manufacturing space—born out of a relentless drive to solve problems and push boundaries.

I’ve had the privilege of contributing my expertise to respected organizations such as Litramed Publishers, Fayfoad Nigeria Limited, Pomat Peters Limited, Production Point, and Digital Reality Limited. Today, I wear the badge of Publisher of Igbe News—a community-focused platform that seeks to inform, inspire, and uplift.

Beyond my professional path, I take pride in being a former boxer, hockey player, handball player, and coach. Sports taught me discipline, resilience, and teamwork—qualities that continue to guide me. In recent years, I have embraced farming as a way to connect with the land, support local food systems, and live out my values of sustainability and self-reliance.

One of the great honors of my journey is my active involvement with the Ilupeju Secondary School (ILUSEC) Old Students Association, where I proudly served as Vice President. This role allowed me to give back to the institution that played a critical role in shaping the man I am today. I remain committed to strengthening the bond between alumni and fostering opportunities for current students.

This 60th birthday is especially meaningful to me. It is a moment of reflection, celebration, and tribute to my late father, Aree Afolabi Adetu, who passed on in 2007. Until his last days, he never failed to be the first to wish me a happy birthday. In his honor, I raise my voice and spirit to say: Happy Birthday to me—may it be filled with purpose and grace.

As I reflect on our shared community in Banana Estate, Igbe, I cannot ignore the growing hardship we face. Since October 2024, Banana Estate has been completely without electricity. All efforts to restore power—through community engagements, complaints, and appeals—have sadly yielded no result. This extended outage continues to disrupt homes, businesses, and daily life.

A few weeks ago, I was deeply moved as I walked home from the Chairman’s house on Road X1, passing Baba Olusesi’s house in Mercy Land CDA, behind Hakeem Omo Onile’s compound. There, I saw Chief Udofia’s children struggling to fetch water after a long day. That simple, yet powerful moment stirred something in me.

Since May 11, 2025, I have been personally funding the pumping of water into our community tanks—providing relief in the midst of our power crisis. I will continue this effort until the end of May. However, to sustain this vital service, all we need is just ₦8,000 weekly—an amount that, if raised, can keep water flowing for everyone in Banana Estate. It’s not about every household contributing ₦8,000—it’s about raising that total amount collectively, however possible. With just ₦8,000 a week, we can keep the taps running.

As I celebrate my 60th year, I do so not just with pride, but with purpose. I recommit myself to being a voice for the voiceless, a solution-seeker for my people, and a passionate advocate for collective progress. Through Igbe News, my inventions, and my work in agriculture and sports, I will continue to build, uplift, and inspire.

Here’s to many more years of service, hope, unity, and creative impact. May our community rise stronger, and may our struggles today become the success stories of tomorrow.

With heartfelt pride and unwavering commitment,

Adeboye Prince Adetu
