In a landmark gathering that blended memories with forward vision, the pioneering 1984/85 graduating set of Ilupeju Secondary School—the school's first-ever graduating class—celebrated its 200th monthly reunion in December 2025. Hosted by Mrs. Aminat Adekunle Opadeyi at her home in Alagbole Akute, Ogun State, the meeting was not merely a reunion but a historic pivot.
This milestone session followed a momentous decision taken at their previous meeting, hosted by Otunba Waliu Olaosebikan in Bajulaye, Somolu, Lagos. The set unanimously agreed to transition from a year-specific alumni group to the broader "Elders Forum of Ilupeju Secondary School." This new forum will welcome all alumni of the school who have attained the age of 60, a strategic move designed to ensure the enduring legacy of the pioneer set and create a sustainable, inclusive body for senior alumni. The transition is guided by specific conditions to preserve the founding set's unique history and values.
The atmosphere at the 200th meeting was full of warm memories. Laughter and stories flowed freely as members embarked on a collective journey back to the school's earliest days. In a special and meaningful "roll call of remembrance," the names of absent classmates were invoked, serving as keys to unlock a treasury of shared memories. This exercise successfully brought everyone's minds back to the pioneering spirit of the mid-80s, recalling the foundational experiences that defined the school's first generation of graduates.
Following the meeting online through WhatsApp were Pastor Jongbo Ibereola, Otunba Waliu Olaosebikan and Mrs Yemisi Lawal

They are confident that this evolution into an Elders Forum will allow them to formalize their role as mentors and custodians of the school's history, ensuring their pioneering legacy continues to guide and inspire all who follow.
