Women Are Complicated”
Nollywood Veteran Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Breaks Silence on Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham Feud:
“Disputes Between Women Are More Complicated”
Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has finally weighed in on the long-simmering rift between two of Yoruba cinema’s biggest stars, Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.
In a recent interview, the highly respected filmmaker and actor addressed the unresolved tension between the two actresses, offering a measured but candid perspective that has since sparked widespread discussion among fans and industry watchers.
Ogogo, known for his decades of experience and calm demeanor, avoided taking sides, instead focusing on the nature of female conflict resolution—which he described as inherently more complex than disagreements among men.
“What Is the Real Problem?”
Speaking with characteristic wisdom, Ogogo questioned the logic behind the rivalry, especially given the monumental success both women have achieved in their careers.
“What is the reason for the fight? What is really the problem when God has already blessed both of them? Is fighting the next step?” the veteran asked rhetorically.
He expressed optimism that the actresses would eventually reconcile, stating that time and maturity would help them see the futility of their dispute.
“Very soon, they will come back to their senses,” he added.
“I Don’t Interfere in Disputes Among Women”
While acknowledging the feud exists, Ogogo made it clear that he has no intention of stepping in as a mediator—nor does he believe anyone else should.
“I don’t interfere in disputes among women,” he declared.
The actor drew a sharp contrast between how men and women handle conflict. According to him, male disagreements, while sometimes heated, are usually straightforward and short-lived.
“When men have issues, they talk them through and move on. But when it’s between women, it becomes more complicated than war—very difficult for anyone to step into.”
“If They Choose to Be Jealous, That’s on Them”
Ogogo further distanced himself from the controversy, stating that the matter is none of his business and that both actresses are responsible for their own actions.
“It is hard for anybody to interfere. It is not even my business. If they choose to be jealous of each other, that’s on them,” he said.
Background on the Feud
Although neither Funke Akindele nor Toyin Abraham has publicly detailed the root of their rift, industry observers have for years noted a palpable tension between the two box-office queens. Both actresses have achieved remarkable success—Akindele as the star of the highest-grossing Nollywood film A Tribe Called Judah, and Abraham as a leading producer and actress with a massive fan base.
Fans have often called for reconciliation, but occasional social media clashes and indirect comments have kept the rivalry alive.
Reactions From Fans and Colleagues
Ogogo’s comments have drawn mixed reactions. Some applauded his honesty and refusal to fuel the fire, while others criticized him for not encouraging peace more actively.
One fan commented, “He spoke the truth. Women’s fights are deeper and harder to settle.” Another wrote, “But as an elder, shouldn’t he call them to a table and settle it?”
As of press time, neither Funke Akindele nor Toyin Abraham has responded to Ogogo’s remarks.
