BAUCHI, NIGERIA – The Bauchi State Hisbah Command has arrested seven men involved in a secret wife-swapping ring operating under the guise of a group called the Wudaddu. The men reportedly swapped wives for romantic benefits, disguised as temporary marriage arrangements.
The shocking revelation came after one of the women involved reportedly pulled out, saying she could no longer continue with the practice. Her departure left the group short of one wife, sparking internal tension that eventually led to the group's unraveling.
According to Hisbah officials, the group had been operating for nearly two years. Trouble began when some members, frustrated by the growing discord, tipped off authorities. Hisbah launched an investigation, invited the suspects, and the men reportedly confessed to the acts.
The overall leader of the Wudaddu group, however, claimed his members had been warned to stop the practice, but they secretly continued. The facilitator of the swinger arrangements allegedly said he received repeated "divine instructions" in dreams, where Allah supposedly gave him the idea to swap wives. He then persuaded other members and their wives based on these claimed revelations.
But Hisbah officials dismissed the divine explanation as baseless, noting that such acts are strictly prohibited in Islam. The commander of the operation described the men's justification as a clear misinterpretation of religious teachings for personal benefit.
