Chief George Akume, SGF, Marries Former Queen of Ife
Benue State, Nigeria – In a significant social event merging political and traditional spheres, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief George Akume, has entered into matrimony with Queen Zaynab, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
Chief Akume, 72, a former Governor of Benue State and a prominent political figure, wed Queen Zaynab, formerly known as Zaynab Otiti Obanor. The bride was previously married to the Ooni of Ife; their high-profile traditional marriage took place in March 2016 in Benin City, Edo State, with subsequent ceremonies in Ile-Ife, Osun State. That union concluded in 2017 after approximately 17 months.
Public records indicate that prior to her marriage to the Ooni, Queen Zaynab had been married to a former Governor of Jigawa State, a Dubai-based businessman, and a Qatar Prince. Her marriage to Chief Akume marks her fifth publicly known union.
The new development has generated considerable public interest, linking a key member of the current federal administration with a notable figure from Nigeria’s traditional royalty circuit.
In a related note following the announcement, a social media user directed a message to Adeyeye Dhelite Elijah, stating, "Get ready my buddy, the ministry is moving closer to the permanent site," suggesting an impending relocation or development activity.
Igbenews will continue to monitor this story and provide further details as they emerge.
